Albums not showing post ROCK to Nucleus One migration (ref#P0F3HP)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· My Albums are not showing up after my ROCK to Nucleus One migration.

I have successfully migrated form ROCK to Nucleus One and reconnected the latter to my Roon App (v0.0.1)on my Mac (2021 M1 OS 26.6.2). I have transferred the SSD from my ROCK to the Nucleus One and all my music appeared on the InternalStorage folder. When I started the Roon App, all my albums appeared but all my tags, favorites and stars and classifications were gone. So I decided to restore my backup that I did before the migration, found it, restored it but it didn't fix the problem. Instead, my albums don't appear anymore - the library says "0 of 1453 albums" and none shows up. Under Storage it says "Nucleus Internal Storage - 15150 tracks imported" and on my network I can see all the files in the InternalStorage folder.

How can I make my albums appear and how can I recover my tags, classifications, favorites and stars?

Hey @thomas.jaecklin,

Thanks for the detailed write-up, that made this much easier to track down.

From a fresh Roon Server diagnostic report, it looks like your backup restored correctly, and your library is intact on the Nucleus One right now, 1,498 albums, all 42 of your tags, your 16 playlists, and your favorites and edits all came back with it.

What seems to have gone wrong was on the app side rather than the server. Your logs show the restore finishing cleanly at 14:47, with the full library loaded and the search index rebuilt seconds later. But when the Roon app on your Mac reconnected, it drew the Albums page without ever requesting the album list from the server.

It also appears to have resolved itself: at around 15:15, while you were in Settings → Storage, the app re-requested the list and the albums came back. From that point through the end of the logs (18:45) everything has been rendering normally.

So the first question is what you’re seeing now. If the Albums page is still empty, quit the Roon app on the Mac completely and reopen it, that’s the fix here, and nothing needs changing on the Nucleus One itself.

A few housekeeping notes while you’re in there:

Remove the extra storage location. At 14:27 a network share pointing at \nucleusone\Data\Storage\InternalStorage was added. That’s the Nucleus One’s own internal SSD reached over the network — the same files Roon was already watching directly. Having them added twice caused about 45 minutes of unnecessary re-importing. Settings → Storage should list Nucleus One Internal Storage and nothing else, and the internal drive shouldn’t be added a second time as a network share.

Check your account for a duplicate server. Because the backup came from your ROCK, the Nucleus One has taken on the ROCK’s identity and now reports itself as “Roon Optimized Core Kit”. If two servers are listed in your account, the old ROCK entry can be unauthorized.

A few files won’t import. These have been failing since before the migration, so it’s the files themselves rather than anything to do with the move:

  • Ferrell Rachelle/Rachelle Ferrell/ — tracks 09, 10 and 13
  • Avener/The Wanderings Of The Avener/1-12 La Tourre.aif
  • the WAV files in the Divers-mix/ folder

Let us know how the Albums page looks after restarting the app and we’ll take it from there.

Hello Benjamin

Thank you so much for your detailed response below.

As a matter of fact, things have fallen into place - not sure exactly how but everything is showing up as it should and working very smoothly.

I went through your housekeeping recommendations (including one question):

  • I deleted all storage locations except for the Nucleus One Internal Storage

  • I have noticed that my Nucleus called itself “Roon Optimized Core Kit” after the backup restore - how can I change that to Nucleus One? or should I not bother?

  • I deleted the files that didn’t import, to avoid any corruption or issues down the road

I would appreciate your guidance on the question above, but apart from that, everything goes very well.

Kind regards

Hey @thomas.jaecklin,

That’s excellent news! I’m glad to hear things are looking good on your end.

This is an easy fix, and it’s only cosmetic: head to Settings>Set Up > Roon Server Name.

From there, you’ll be able to rename your Nucleus Roon Server to ‘Nucleus’ or ‘Nucleus One’. I actually see it showing it’s proper name in your account admin now, so you may have already figured this out.

Happy listening! :musical_notes::drum:
