All audio zones missing after updating Roon to latest version (ref#TU9CH9)

I’m having the exact same problem after update. MacOS (sequoia). re: NONE of my audio zones (devices) are recognized. No Devialet. No KEF LS50 Wireless II, No Buchardt A700.

Mac 2018 Mac mini as core. 64gb ram. MacOS (sequoia).
3.2 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7
64 GB 2667 MHz DDR4

All Mac environment for app. iPhone 15 Pro Max, 2023 iMac, 2023 M2 Mac Air.

What best describes your playback issue?

· My DAC, streamer, or speaker doesn't appear as a Zone in Roon

What type of Zone is affected by this problem?

· *All of my Zones* are affected.

Is your device connected directly to the Roon Server via cable or over the network, or is it chained through another device (such as a streamer, Roon Bridge, or Roon Remote)?

· Connected directly to my RoonServer machine

Does the device show up at all in Roon Settings -> Audio?

· No, it does not show up there

Does the device play audio from another source when using the same connection?

· The device has no problems with another audio source

Have you checked that Roon is whitelisted in any firewalls?

· I've checked the firewall and the issue remains

Since you are using a network connection to the device, please ensure that your RoonServer is on the same subnet as the device

· My devices are on a single subnet but is not visible to Roon

Do you have a complex network setup?

· I have a *mesh network* with devices connected to multiples points

Your local network might need some re-arranging to support Roon.

· None of the suggestions have helped me. I'd like to submit a support request.

What are the make and model of the affected audio device(s) and the connection type?

· All speakers are "active": Devialet, Kef LS50 Wiress II, Buchardt A700 . All connected via ethernet cable

Describe the issue

Just updated to latest Roon version. All audio zones are gone after update.

Hi @Robert_Bielecki,

Are Roon’s processes safelisted in the MacOS firewall? The Sequoia update might have defaulted these settings.

Don’t disable the firewall, but verify Roon and Roon Appliance allow incoming connections.

Thank you for the quick reply Connor. I don’t have the firewall on.

Hi @Robert_Bielecki,

Stand by, we’ll have more information and suggestions as soon as possible. Restart RoonServer in the meantime, and then restart the machine itself if that doesn’t work.

Try refreshing RAATServer completely in the meantime. Make a Backup first to preserve Zone configuration and DSP settings.

  • Create a Backup of your current Roon database
  • Exit out of Roon
  • Navigate to your Roon’s Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “RAATServer”
  • Rename the “RAATServer” folder to “RAATServer_old”
  • Restart the Roon App to generate a new RAATServer folder

I just had to restart the server again remotely and got it working again… pfew Hope @Robert_Bielecki has same luck

Thanks @stevev1 - no such luck. Multiple reboots of Mac mini. Multiple reboots of Roon server.

I saw this issue right after I did the new update. Most zones missing…

Did as instructed. No luck. (for what it’s worth, I see my library no problem. Still no audio devices. I would add that this also includes a Primare SC15 MK2 and HiFi Rose RS130.).

Hi @Robert_Bielecki,

Thanks for your patience. We’ve pulled diagnostic logging from the affected Mac Mini. Here’s what we’ve found:

Roon sees the device announcements from the networked endpoints, identifies the hardware, and associates them with the expected Zones. However, when it attempts to establish a connection, there’s no network path available between Roon and the network endpoints.

Two likely possibilities. The first, which we’ve so far explored, is that the update defaulted native security settings on the Mac Mini to prevent incoming/outgoing network traffic associated with Roon. The firewall isn’t active (although I recommend turning it on and safelisting Roon/RoonAppliance), so it’s unlikely that’s the case unless you have third-party security software. Our QA team will continue to test this possibility and we’ll respond with what we have.

The second possibility is that the mesh network isn’t forwarding multicast traffic to the correct destination.

Do you have multicast forwarding and IGMP snooping enabled in the ASUS router admin settings?

Where is the Mac Mini RoonServer connected relative to the HiFi Rose and and Devialet endpoints in your network configuration?

Router reboot fixed the problem. Apologies for not performing the reboot before submitting a ticket. I appreciate the help though!
