Description of Issue
Until recently (at most 2 months ago) I had no problem playing live radio stations that I’ve added to Roon. Mostly Radio Paradise but also BBC, Catalunya Radio and a couple of others. Now all fail to play with this error message: "Playback was interrupted because a track failed to load.
I’ve rebooted my core, no change. Local albums and Tidal music play without problem.
Thanks for reaching out. Can you please let us know the exact local time + date when you next experience this issue and which station you tired to play? We will then enable diagnostics mode to see if there is any specific errors in logs. Are you able to use VLC to play these stations without issue?
Hi Noris,
I replied by email but perhaps I had to do it here! Here’s what I wrote:
Hi Noris,
Thanks for contacting me. The problem persists, and I last tried to play Radio Paradise (Main mix), this afternoon (22 Nov.) at 17:38pm, CET (Barcelona/Madrid/Paris/Berlin time).
I have also restarted my router and my Macbook Pro (where the server resides) in the past 2 days, to no effect. I also installed the latest Roon updates when prompted a few minutes ago, and just now (18:04) tried playing Radio Paradise again - no difference.
I have found one station in my (small) collection of Live Radio stations in Roon that works: BBC Radio 3
Others such as Catalunya Radio give me this error message:
Apologies for the delay in getting back to you here and thank you for the additional information. For your Radio Paradise link, are you selecting the FLAC stream as the default? Are you able to play any MP3 / AAC stations at all? I wonder if this could be an issue with the codecs on your Mac?
We’ll never know what caused my problem, I think, because I transferred my Roon installation to a new(er) Macbook Pro, and on this machine radio stations are playing without problem!
So this thread can be marked as closed, although we didn’t really get an answer
cheers,
Carl
