No reason to Firetoolbox if you are just running Roon as its in the Amazon app store.
Picked one up on Prime Day today for £75 after trading in a 7yr old fire tablet.
The wireless charging (and so hidden cables) is the real plus for me over getting an old iPad.
Thanks for the reminder Louis. Amazon Fire 10 Tables on sale now for $75 USD. They run ROON natively, nothing special needed.
Hi, what stand is this, struggling to find a discreet one…
Hi, @Louis_Eastman
The stand is a genuine Fire HD 10 (7th gen) charging dock. I have a few of them (four) and they are working fine as Roon controllers. Not sure if similar docks are available for other Fire tablets?
Crap I didn’t check the small print and it seems it’s only the plus tablets that have wireless charging.

Yup, made this same mistake myself.
I’ve been playing around with the new FireHD10 last week,
A couple of things are annoying me about it. I’ve turned on developer mode, but I think the screen will only stay unlocked if it is charging otherwise it goes to sleep, and as it doesn’t have wireless charging my thinking was it stays on the desk or sofa or garden etc and charges at night with sufficient battery to stay on all day. The brightness dims after a period too.
These I feel I can live with, charge it at my desk so it stays on.
I am a bit too used to my iPhone and the tap to wake function, the Fire I have to pick it up, spin it around to work out where the power button is then open it. A smidge annoying, and even more so when I put it the wrong way in portrait and it locks itself.
And I now regularly put it the wrong way up and it locks itself.
Any useful tips for getting it to work a little more seamlessly or improve the experience.
I’m tempted to send it back and get a Plus version so it can sit next to the amp, showing now playing and be picked up as a remote at whim.
Hi @Louis_Eastman
I recommend the Plus version with wireless charging and none of the problems you mentioned previously. I have one as a remote for the kitchen, which I use all the time. But only for that purpose; I can’t say how it behaves if you want to do more with it.
I gave away the previous non-Plus model.
Open Roon Remote on the Fire HD10, then open “Setting”. Under “Setup” change “Keep screen awake” to “Yes” this should then make the screen on the Fire HD10 stay on whenever one is using the Roon Remote app.
