Description of Issue

I’ve updated the Roon Core today by installing it in a dedicated mini PC 'cos the previous device it was running on had some problems with the memory footprint.
After installing Ubuntu Server from scratch and Roon in it, I’ve restored a previous library backup.
I’ve reconfigured Roon Remote on my main PC to use the new server and everything has worked perfectly and response time is excellent.
After that I’ve proceeded to reconfigure Roon Remote and Roon ARC on the variuous devices I have in the house with the following results:
Windows 11 PCs
– 3 different devices: everything works fine
RopieeXL
– Perfectly working
Apple devices
– iPhone 14 Pro Max
----- Roon Remote - OK
----- Roon ARC - OK both on the LAN and on the mobile network
– iPad Pro: Roon Remote - OK
Android devices
– Nothing works
– Roon Remote
----- “Choosing your Roon Core” shows the Core but gets stuck in “Connecting…” next to the red dot
– ARC
----- Gets stuck while “Searching for Roon Core…” both on LAN and on mobile network

The Android devices are:

  • Samsung Galaxy S10+ with OneUI 4.1 (Android 12)
  • Huawei Mate Pad Pro with Harmony OS 2.0
  • Huawei P40 Lite 5G with EMUI 12.0

All the 3 android devices were working perfectly up to a couple of months ago, after that I was in vacation and couldn’t use them.

Asa additional information, when I try to connect from Android, RoonServer logs the following error:
09/01 16:18:09 Trace: [remoting/brokerserver] [initconn 192.168.1.63:60546=>192.168.1.201:9332] Connected
09/01 16:18:09 Warn: [remoting/brokerserver] [initconn 192.168.1.63:60546=>192.168.1.201:9332] failed: System.Exception: got unexpected broker id in REQ_HANDSHAKE: XXXXX
at Sooloos.Broker.Distributed.InitConnectionV2.Go()

Have not found any specific log error when I try to connect with ARC

Any suggestion on what might be causing this specific problem?

Best Regards
Paolo

Hi @Paolo_Tavazzani,

We’ve identified some irregularities in diagnostics related to IPv4/IPv6 formatting on your network. If you try disabling IPv6 on your Ubuntu server, are you able to rediscover your Android devices on this network?

If not, please try fully uninstalling and reinstalling on the Android devices and rebooting your RoonServer machine. It’s possible the update kicked a token mismatch inadvertently.

We’ll keep an eye out for your response.

Hi,
Connor.
After a couple of days the Android app suddenly discovered and accesed the Roon Server without me doing anything to address the issue.
Everything seems to be working quire well right now.

Thank you for the support anyway.

Could you please elaborate a bit about the irregularities you have found? It might help me to check out if something strange is going on in the network. Presently I don’t see any strange behavior from other applications and servers.

Best regards
Paolo
