Android remote crash on startup

Hi @Andrea_Maioli,

Which device does this behavior occur on? Does it happen on both your Zenfone 3 and Zonefone 5 or just one and not the other?

Hi @noris
On Both
Please note also that, forcing the shutdown of the app on both devices, Roon doesn’t stop to play the song
Thank you

Hi @Andrea_Maioli,

This is to be expected since the music playback actually happens on the Core and not your Android remotes.

You mentioned you “never had a problem with that button”, does this mean that on older versions of Roon you were able to properly use that button to exit the app?

Hi @Noris
You mentioned you “never had a problem with that button”, does this mean that on older versions of Roon you were able to properly use that button to exit the app?

Yes

Please, note that after a few days of testing on 528 version, i point out that The Rock frequently needs to be rebooted because of WIFI lost connection between the core and the remotes. This happen on Zenfone3, 5 and on a tablet with android 6.
Not the same on wired LAN connection. Never lost the core from remote
It seems to be not a problem on my network, 'cause never happened before
Thank ou

Hi @Andrea_Maioli,

Which version of Roon were you seeing this behavior on? We tested 3 Android devices in the QA lab on older builds of Roon and were not able to see this button working on our end. Perhaps you mis-remembered this button as working in the past?

Do you have “Multicast Routing” enabled on your ASUS router? As per our Networking Best Practices Guide:

ASUS Routers

We recommend enabling “Enable Multicast Routing” option in settings.

HI @noris

1)OK. Double click doesn’t exit application: what i should do to exit without killing?

  1. Multicast routing on ASUS RT-AC87U works only for LAN, see below
“The ASUS RT-AC87U supports multicast and BT’s TV service and is an absolute doddle to set up. If you are using standard ASUS firmware, then select ‘LAN’ in the ‘Advanced Settings’. Then select the ‘IPTV’ tab near the top of the screen. Simply use the settings shown in the image below, with ‘Microsoft’ for ‘Use DHCP routes’ and ‘Enable multicast routing (IGMP Proxy)’ and ‘Enable efficient multicast forwarding (IGMP Snooping)’ enabled and the number zero for ‘UDP Proxy (Udpxy)’ . That’s it! Multicast should work perfectly, but bear in mind that it will only work via Ethernet and not WiFi.”

The problems are about WIFI (99 of my Roon Utilization) disconnection, not WITH LAN.
Thank you

If you press the home button, that should exit the Roon application without killing it (and just sends it to background instead).

When this behavior occurs, what exactly happens? Do you see the “lost connection” screen? Is your router on the latest firmware version?
