I know the latest roon on android requires openGL. This could be the cause. Also make sure roon has audio permissions.

I have ROCK on core

I mean on android. Sorry I didn’t specify.

what should i do?

The smartphone says: No permission required from the app Roon

Hi @Andrea_Maioli,

Can you please be a bit more specific on which screen you’re seeing this behavior? Do you see the “Choose your Core” screen or does the app not get past this? Does the crash behavior happen as soon as you click the “connect” button?

  • 90%: When i click on the app icon, it tries to start and suddenly, it closes.
  • 5%: The app starts, tries to connect to the core, and suddenly it closes
    without been connected.
  • 4%: The app starts, but when i try to change the audio zone, it closes
  • 1%: The app runs and works

Addendum:
If i restart the roon core both on power and from webif, i can connect to ROCK, but after a few second the app closes

Hi @Andrea_Maioli,

Thanks for clarifying the error state. I have gone ahead and activated diagnostics mode for your Android 9 device and what this action should do is automatically upload a log-set to our servers next time the Roon app is online.

Can I please ask that you open the Roon app on your Android 9 device a few times, reproduce this crashing behavior, note the exact local time + date of the crash as well as which category from above the crash was related to and let me know this info here?

Crash on 10th march 2020
5.30 cet AM
Variuos crashes
The app doesn’t start
The app starts but closes after few seconds
Also Crashes at 5.35 AM
AT 5.48 Rebooted the Core, the app tries connecting, but few seconds later, suddenly crashes

Hi Noris
Have you seen my report?

Hi @Andrea_Maioli,

Thank you for letting me know those timestamps.

I have activated diagnostics mode for your Android 9 device and what this action does is automatically upload a log set to our servers for analysis.

I can confirm that the log report has been received and I have requested QA to review it.

We recently released a new build of Roon, version 528 which contain some improvements in the Android area, can you please try to upgrade to the latest build and let me know if you’re seeing the same behavior while QA investigates the logs I gathered?

Thanks!

Thank you @Noris!
Upgrade to 528 done!
I’ll let you know
Andrea

HI Noris
version 528: It seems working fine both on zenfone 5 and 3
The only strange behaviour is that it is impossible to quit the app double clicking on the left arrow on the smartphone. To quit roon app it is necessary a brute killing on the smartphone
Thank you

Hi @Andrea_Maioli,

Glad to hear that the update has helped resolved the crashes!

Regarding this, can you please share a screenshot of the “left arrow” you are talking about? Is it the Android’s physical “back” button (next to the home button)? What happens when you press it twice, nothing at all?

Hi @noris
Hereunder the screenshot

When i press twice, nothing happens, while the appp instead should close
The double click on that arrows closes each application on my smarthpone
Note, i never had problem with that button
