I can confirm I regularly experience this issue on my pixel 3. Had in when running Android 10, also getting in when running Android 11 beta 1.5. Happens when using both Sonos and Chromecast audio as an end point, locally saved FLAC files and Tidal stream. Not experienced when using iOS devices as a remote.
Should have said, issue goes away if I force close the app and reopen it
