Any clue why Roon isn't pushing sound through my MacBook Pro?

Volume is up, mute is off. The progress bar on the track timer sits there like a banana slug. All other end points are purring along without a problem. Roon Core is on a [different] networked iMac.

Hey @dcw96161,

Thanks for writing in, although to best assist you, we’ll need a bit more information about your Roon setup, and how things are connected within your local network.

To confirm, do you have your Mac system output enabled as a zone? Can you share a screenshot of your Roon settings>audio when the issue is occurring?

Before anything else, I’d give your Mac a reboot and see if the same issue occurs. Thanks! :+1:

Hi @dcw96161,

Please see the comments from my colleague above to start.

Additionally, diagnostic logging shows Roon announcing a Zone associated with Splashtop Remote Sound, a service with routing control over Apple’s coreaudio daemon. Have you verified that you’re not routing the MacBook’s system audio to another program? Try bypassing or disabling this software entirely, if it’s involved with the affected MacBook Pro.

Honestly, I don’t even know what or where Splashtop is or can be found. Roon is the ONLY place on my MBP where such a phantom appears. It is not an installed app, and does not show up in my system settings sound output list. Since I have no clue what it is or how it got there, I would happily disable or remove it completely if I could only figure out how to do that.

I think I have stumbled on a solution. The Roon Core on my NUC will not open up. So I installed a fresh version of Roon on an unused iMac and tinkered on there. The Splashtop rogue is still appearing there, but it’s not enabled. I’d still like to get rid of it because I don’ like phantom apps on my system if they’re not being used and I don’t know how they got there, but I’ll endure that for the moment.

Hi @dcw96161 ,

Glad to hear you were able to solve the issue with the iMac! As for the Splashtop device, it looks like Roon is automatically detecting it, so it still seems to be installed somehow.

I’ll go ahead and mark this one as solved, happy listening!
