Anybody using Cocktail Audio X14 with Roon and thoughts on its performance?

Hello all, hope you are staying safe out there!
So I am considering buying a Cocktail Audio X14 to use for a small cheap and cheerfull second system where it will be the sole component connected to a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 220 speakers.
I intend to connect it to Roon for the vast majority of its usage and was interested in how reliable it has been as a Roon endpoint and its performance as a cheap all in one.
Primarily concerned with the Roon connection as have read a few instances where these Cocktail products have not played nice right away with Roon and as a computer null genius I do not need major headaches.
Thank you

Well, a lot of the issues are due to it not being seen on the network, which can be mitigated if you only connect via wired ethernet, and, trying to play certain high resolution files, like DSD.

What is your goal in terms of formats and resolutions played?

Hi Daniel.
It would be hard wired Ethernet as I have a downstairs switch that feeds my ultrarendu on the main system about 20 ft away so would run a cable to it.

Streaming from Qobuz and my own collection of 16/44 ripped CD is the main aim. No DSD and only hires will be the Qobuz files.

Hi Kevin,

As an aside, I am just another fellow user. It sounds like it would work just fine. You have a proven network already feeding a mRendu. I am curious to hear your review if you get the kit.

My advice would be to get it from a reputable dealer with a good return policy. If you can get it with a 30 return window, that would be more than enough time to set it up and see if there are any kinks that need to be sorted; and more importantly, the time to do them. Or, if you like the unit even it if works fine with Roon.

Getting a new piece of gear is always exciting.
