Anyone tested Bluesound Node Icon?

Hi!

It’s listed under Roon Ready devices. I’d like to know if someone has some experiences with it. Works flawlessly? Does the screen on the unit works properly when using Roon?

Listening to it now. Working great via Roon. Displaying Now Playing info. I wouldn’t buy it for the screen though. The sound difference between new Node N132 and the Icon are marginal, slight edge to Icon maybe. The Icon has been dropping off my robust wireless network, where Node has been rock solid in few weeks of testing. Also hearing little pops here and there with Icon.

I had one. Sent it back. Great device. Worked flawlessly. Never dropped off the network. It went back because I had a mature moment, realising what I already have, Nucleus and OPPO UDP-205, sound great. New Nodes Aug 2024 - #17 by robtodd

Have one. Enjoy it very much. Works perfect with ROON, Dac sounds great, is stable till now, Headphone (AKG 812) sounds astounding with Roons new Filters. Never had a better headphone Solution.
Really nice is that you can use the CD-Player Remote (or the corresponding section on a big Remote) to toggle Play/Pause, back and forth and rise and lower the Volume while listening by headphones.
Dirac Live is the cherry on the cake.
Replaced an Innuos Zenith, which i don‘t miss.

There is humming in XLR outputs…

Please read this:

I’ve been using mine for nearly 4 weeks on XLR’s and no issues at all.
Have to say for me a solid 8/9 out of 10, beats an Audiolab 9000n by some margin.
I noticed a big boost when I played back music on an ssd direct from the Icon compared to via Roon!?!?

Hello, what makes the difference to the 9000n for you?

Hello Thomas,
I would have kept the 9000n had the trigger worked, it was very nice.
I’ve given your question a fair degree of considered thought, I’m sure my explanation will fall far short of scientific explanation, I think I find the Node Icon a little more enthusiastic.
And now it gets really weird, the analogy I can best offer is when I was young I did a lot of swimming and I used to race Breaststroke and my instructor was all about pull/kick/glide , with the Node the glide seems to go on a fraction longer, which I find agreeable.
I’m used to Meridian processors and like their sound a lot, I find the Node gives a detailed and resolving sound whilst having a similar melodic sound to Meridian.
Hope this helps, apologies if it comes across as a lot of old nonsense.

I’d like to share my experience over the last week has been positive. I have tried XLR out into my McIntosh C12000 and optical and coax into my MCD12000 which then has two sets of XLRs into my C12000.

I’ve experience no humming like mentioned above in my system which uses all XLR connections through from the C12000 through the crossover to the MC1.25KWs.

I’m surprised the display on the node icon can’t be turned off, changed or adjusted in any fashion in the app. I’ve ready these features are near the top of their list to implement in future updates, but rather shocked it wasn’t considered or implemented from the launch. Pretty poor IMO.
