I understand Apple music was a topic numerous times here.
Has the fact that Pioneer is now able to integrate it to their DJ consoles changed anything from Roon’s perspective? Any light on a horizon?

If you asking if you’ll ever be able to use AM in Roon as you can with Tidal and Qobuz, I think the answer is, unfortunately, a solid No.

Only if the Pioneer thing made Apple reconsider any of the obstacles
Apple integration is easy for us on iOS/MacOS – but we couldn’t do any of the audio magic. We’ve spoken to them and they are willing to give us the data dumps we need. The biggest issue with Apple is that they won’t give us audio streams or playback outside their platforms.
May one ask if this would be such a bad thing? One would imagine that most music enthusiasts that would love Apple Music integration do actually only use Apple products… of course I am one of them!

since Apple would control the audio stream, and not Roon’s MUSE audio engine:
no DSP
no hi-resolution audio
no multi-zone
no bit-perfect playback
no using your devices’ clocks for networked audio
no signal path
no volume leveling
no crossfade
forced resampling, possibly asynchronous
Airplay only for networking
