Apple TV Extension - Roon TV Remote

Hello Russell,

Is it possible to send hdmi signal to a portrait oriented monitor?

Thank you!

Hi @Bogdan_Rosca, unfortunately not. The Apple TV does not natively support portrait display orientation.

Hello Russell,

Do you have any plans to make the ‘listen later’ queue accessible via this app?

Thanks

Paul.

I don’t think the feature is accessible via the API

Roon API hasn’t been updated for 7 years IIRC

It’s limited in what can be done

No worries, thankyou for taking the time to reply.

Hello Russell

I’ve just updated my Apple TV to the IOS 27 Public Beta and TV:Remote app no longer works. It finds the ROON server on initial install, but then only loads too the intro screen. The extension can be enabled and it reports connected to Apple TV

Are you aware of this issue and any thoughts on how to resolve?

Edit: other chromecast displays and web url work. I can forward a copy of the TV:Remote log that does have some errors. (beyond my tech knowledge)

Thanks
Alan

Yes this has happened on my AppleTv running ios 27 beta also.
I hope it gets fixed soon.

Thanks

@gareth_Trevor I reached out to the developer of TV:Remote Russell V and he has identified what the issue is and fed this back to Apple, so hopefully the app will be fixed in a future beta or the final public release of TVOS27.

Im aware of the issue with TVOS27, i’m in the progress of getting a fix into the App Store.

I’ve just updated to tvOS 27.0 and found that TV:Remote connected to Roon ok, music can be browsed. Selected and played… but I get no sound.

Both the TV:Remote app and the Roon app on the iPhone shows the tracks as playing.

I know you’re working on a fix so wanted to just add another users perspective in case it was useful.

This sounds like it’s a Roon server side issue if the Roon app on the iPhone also thinks it’s playing but there’s no sound!

It does play sound through every other end point, but I’ll restart the server and see if that fixes things. I’ll let you know if it does/doesn’t.

With apologies, I’m back again :grimacing:
Every so often I can’t get TV: Remote to work, and I’m at that point again.

Here is what I’m seeing:

Any guidance would be appropriated. Thanks!

Have you tried a reboot of the Roon Core? When I’m running the core on a Mac I sometimes run into this issue.

Alternatively, setting “Connect using IP Core Address” to Yes in the app settings will bypass discovery and connect directly to the entered IP address.

A reboot of the Roon server did it.

Thanks!
