· The latest ARC app 1.78 plays music okay and shows all my albums in the library. But it gives an error “Something went wrong” when asking for Artists or Tracks. This isn’t an install problem I think because I have multiple that give the same error, while I also have a couple with 1.74 which work as normal, showing all artists and tracks.

· My home network is Mikrotik with a Macmini running the server. This all works great.
That’s not possible. If I update the other ARC devices then they will also fail just like the two that are on the latest version. My server is 7000km away from me and even though I have remote access, I am afraid for a hickup where I will need physical access.
Can I downgrade the iOS apps to 1.74 that works good? Surely this is a known problem? In the mean time I have tried to completely remove and reinstall the app but result is the same: installation is successful and all albums show up but not artists nor tracks, genres etc.
Unfortunately, Apple’s App Store does not allow installing older versions of apps. Once an app updates, you cannot roll back through official means. There’s no legitimate way to get ARC 1.74 back on iOS.
That said, do you have any VPNs active within your remote devices using Arc, or your Roon Server?
Are you currently using Tailscale, or are you connected via port forwarding?
my Roon server is behind a Mikrotik router that has a public IP and does port forwarding. It also supports Wireguard VPN’s that I use for other applications.
I use ARC simply anywhere via wifi and it works great, except this new version like described above. It must be a bug or incompatibility as 1.74 works great.
For testing I just started ARC while on a VPN into the Mikrotik and there is no difference: playback works, album browser works but not artist/track/genre browsing. For album browsing, the new random sort does work.
Your Roon Server remains on an outdated build as of this writing. If the server and ARC instances aren’t on the same release, you’ll find problems reaching both the server and upstream services.
We really recommend updating the server if you have remote access, and then updating ARC across devices as well.
