ARC failing to complete sync on FireHD (Fire OS) (ref#794SK8)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· None of the above quite fits

None of the above quite fits

· None of these quite match

Tell us what's going on

· ARC on FireHD (Fire OS) does not complete Sync on First Connection

Tell us about your home network

· Unifi network (multiple APs, switches). Syncing over wifi. Android phones work normally

Android phones on the same wifi work without issues.

  • On Fire HD 8, Roon Remote and Roon Arc installed from the Amazon AppStore.
  • Tablet reports excellent wifi signal (>400 Mbs on 5 GHz) Roon Remote works well (as a remote and the tablet as an End Point).
  • Tablet up to date, Roon Arc version 1.72.384
  • Cleared cache and data, uninstalled and reinstalled
  • Multiple attempts last 24 hours. Last failure around 9:46am EST
  • Error message is generic (could not complete)

Hello @Michel_Audet,

Thank you for the detailed follow-up — since ARC sync works correctly on your Android phones on the same Wi-Fi, we’d like to narrow this down to the specific Fire OS device.

Could you please confirm a few details about the tablet?

  • Exact Fire HD model (e.g. Fire HD 8 10th / 12th generation)
  • Total RAM installed on the device
  • Available free storage at the time of the sync attempt

ARC’s initial sync can be memory-intensive, and Fire OS devices vary quite a bit in available RAM and background process limits, so this information will help us determine whether the behavior is related to device constraints.

Once we have those details, we can advise on the next steps.

Fire HD 12th gen. 3GB RAM. Over 20GB of free storage space.

Hello @Michel_Audet

Thank you for the update. To investigate further, please supply us with the ADB logs using the instructions below

Connect your PC to Android phone and install ADB (instructions are here (all platforms)). Then:

  1. Type adb shell in terminal
  2. Type logcat v (ref: Logcat command-line tool  |  Android Studio  |  Android Developers)
  3. Reproduce the problem and let terminal print logs for 3-5 more seconds
  4. Select output from the moment you started the reproduction of the bug till the very end
  5. Upload the log here and let us know once you have done so:
