Description of Issue
ARC connects intermittently. It looks like Roon is unable to update the IP for the core and report the correct location of the core to ARC. Below are two screen shots. The first is Settings/About page showing the IP address for the Nucleus as 192.168.1.7. The second is the Settings/Roon ARC page showing a different IP address (192.159.1.36) for which Roon is trying to open Port 55000. Clearly this won’t work. Any suggestions? My efforts so far have been to assign a static IP to the Nucleus, but I can’t get Roon or ARC to look at any other IP except 192.168.1.36.
I went and got another coffee and thought of something else. What are you running your Core on? Does it have wifi and hard ethernet by chance? Maybe a vpn? Turn off all, including wifi, except the ethernet. Core should only have 1 interface (unless you really intend to have more). That may be where to mismatch is coming from.
It shouldn’t matter though if this is the case. It’s just ARC will use one interface and Core will use another. This is why it says “Ready”. It is working just not on the interface you want.
Okay, I rebooted the core and it has picked up the new fixed IP address. ARC still wouldn’t find the core so I deleted the ARC app from my phone and reinstalled. It’s currently synching with my core so hopefully it is now fixed. I’ll let you know as soon as it’s all done.
I went for my 2 mile walk through the neighborhood and ARC worked perfectly the whole time. So looks like the UPNP implementation on my Netgear Orbi router doesn’t play well with ARC. A static IP for the Nucleus and manual port forwarding appears to have solved my issues.
