Greetings. I have used ARC some but was just GREATLY disappointed. I was getting a poor connection message and music was not playing EVEN THOUGH I had a great connection with a download speed of 321 mbps. Everything else was super fast but ARC. VERY distressing to say the least after how much Roon made a big deal about ARC. None of my settings or gear have changed.
Thoughts? TY
Given the lack of information you have provided, it is just not possible to point you in any partiular direction. Perhaps you can fill out the form you bypassed. Good luck to you.
When I get time but the query format is pretty poor. Moreover, given that ARC had been working fine and NOTHING on my systems has changed, I cannot begin to understand HOW that info would help.
The Support team are not mind readers. Without a clear understanding of just what your Roon and network setup is, it is next to impossible for them to have any chance of diagnosing, let alone resolving your issue.
Sorry for lengthy delay. Connected devices are either SONOS ONE or Meridien 218 Zone Controller. Plenty of room in the library. Using Iphone or Ipad with latest updated software in attempting to use ARC. Roon Core Machine is Windows 10 updated with latest software. Networking is Netgear Orbi. All identical to what they have been for years other than system updates. TY
And now I am also getting Roon Lost Connection to Audio Devices and cannot use Roon in 2 of the 3 rooms to which there is a connection. Going from bad to worse unfortunately. HELP please.
I misstated that the Sonos One was a problem. The problem rooms have Sonos Connect devices. Do these units have the referenced problem or is my issue something else? TY
As this problem has occurred twice before in the rooms with Sonos Connect devices, how do I know that this problem you are addressing is the same one I have? I am having no issues with the wired connection via my Meridien 218 and also not having an issue with the wireless connection to Sonos 1. Seems like it MAY have occurred before after a Windows update but I am not 100% certain of that. Thus 2 connections in one room are working fine and not working at all with the Sonos Connect endpoints in 2 other rooms.
The fact that I am not an audio engineer nor a software engineer means I cannot fix this problem. Do I need to replace my Sonos Connect endpoints with higher end endpoints that will not have this problem? Has the community begun to spread the word that Sonos has apparently and intentionally disenfranchised users of Roon? Or do I need to ditch Roon itself? Having unusable equipment for this long is a disgrace.
Michael, you are all over the place! First it was an ARC problem, later its a SONOS problem, and last (my favorite) the problem might be “that Sonos has apparently and intentionally disenfranchised users of Roon.”?!
You have stopped the troubleshooting process by refusing to complete Roon’s “poorly formatted query”. You haven’t even described what the presenting problem is, e.g., symptoms, performance characteristics, context, frequency of bad performance, error messages, remote and/or server crashes, etc.
If you choose not to fill in the form, then the next step will be to simply wait until the help starts rolling in. Good luck…
Respectfully, there are two different issues. ARC I can live without for the time being. Not being able to use Roon at all in 2 different rooms in my house is a more serious damaging issue. I have not been able to determine if Sonos Connect devices (as I use in both of those rooms) suffers from the issue mentioned elsewhere in the chat rooms OR if I have a totally separate problem. I have listed in a reply the system questions fairly fully answered. This is what is mentioned elswhere but I do not know how to determine if this is MY issue: Here’s what we know so far: The Sonos 15.2+ release contained some changes to the Sonos network. These network changes have caused both S1 and S2 devices in the majority of network setups to reject FLAC-format audio streams from Roon. This error manifests as a playback failure followed by this error in Roon: “Roon Lost Control of the Audio Device.” Since Roon reencodes audio streams into FLAC automatically wh…
Excellent question and it was an error so I do not know. The SONOS connect issue has mysteriously resolved after 2 weeks of not working. ARC still not working. Sorry for my wording error. I have no idea what I had intended.
Thanks for taking the time to write in! And for your patience while our team works through each thread.
Following up here, could you please provide your current status? Are you still having issues with Arc? If so, do you see an error code in Roon Settings>Arc?
