ARC Unable to connect!

I brought my intel NUC with me on an extended job with my Roon on it. I am by no means technically savvy and I keep getting this error when trying to connect. I’m thinking it is the network settings at the compound where I am staying?? It’s not going to let me past their router?

If you’re running Rock, then try and use Tailscale

Hi @David_Rice,
Thanks for reaching out to Roon Technical Support. As @Mr.Flibble mentioned, using Tailscale is likely the easiest way forward here. That said, you can also resolve this by setting up manual port forwarding rules. If you’d prefer to go that route, we’re happy to help: just let us know how you’d like to proceed.

Hi @David_Rice,

Diagnostics so far can’t confirm whether or not you’ve been able to use Tailscale to connect to ARC. We wanted to check in before this thread auto-closed due to inactivity to make sure you were equipped to resolve this network blockage.

If you’re using any sort of enterprise-grade network at this job site, then RoonServer likely won’t be able to configure port forwarding automatically.

Tailscale, installed alongside both RoonServer and ARC, provides a secure (Wireguard-based) proxy-mesh connection. It’s a VPN that connects to ARC directly, bypassing the network implementation that blocks port forwarding.

Here are instructions in case you’re running Windows, not ROCK, on your NUC.

Hopefully this helps. This thread will close automatically without a response in another day or so. Thank you!
