ARC will not connect after new network install (ref#V7KE7C)

Network Setup

· I use a single personal router not provided by my ISP

ARC Status

· ARC is *Not Ready*

Roon Error Code

· None of these are listed. It simply says "TIMEDOUT" or similar.

System or third-party *firewalls *or *antivirus software* can sometimes block RoonServer from reaching ARC.

·
Try adding RoonServer and its associated processes to the whitelist of any firewalls or antivirus software you have installed, including the Windows system firewall, if applicable.
[You can learn more about firewall exceptions with Roon here.](https://help.roonlabs.com/portal/en/kb/articles/firewall)

Has the status in Roon -> Settings -> ARC changed after adding exceptions in your firewalls and antivirus software for Roon?
I don't have any system or third-party firewalls or antivirus software.

Have you successfully located and enabled the UPnP or NAT-PMP settings in your router's web UI?

· I've turned UPnP/ NAT-PMP on and ARC won't connect

Hello @Richard_Ducci ,

Thanks for reaching out. Can you please confirm what ISP and model/manufacturer the new router is? It looks like Roon was unable to find any UpNP, are you farmiliar with how to set up a manual port forwarding rule? Does that work as expected?

Thank you for your reply. The ISP is Hargray/Sparklight in South Carolina. The router (my own) is a UDM Pro Max. We did attempt to set up Manual Port Forwarding and it did not work.

Hello @Richard_Ducci ,

Is the ISP’s modem running in duel modem/router mode? Have you tried to set up port forwarding on the ISP’s gear as well? It sometimes is simpler to put the ISP’s modem into “bridge mode”, so that it acts only as a modem and leaves the routing to your router.

Thanks for your reply - from my network installer - the isp is a fiber modem only and does not have the ability to provide any routing. So, no way to put it into “bridge mode”.

Hey @Richard_Ducci,

If bridge mode isn’t an option, it may save you some time and headache to give tailscale a try - this would allow you access to Arc without port forwarding.

Here’s more info:

Let me know if this is something you’d like to try, and if it helps get you access to Arc. :+1:

Thanks Benjamin! Our network installer changed some settings on the router and we are now up and running! Much appreciate the help!
