Description of Issue

I don’t have configuration abilities in my Router from my ISP so I can’t port forward. What else can I do to get ARC to connect to my ROCK Core? It’s displaying the correct Core IP.

With ROCK, no, you need to use Port Forwarding. If you were running Windows or a different OS, then you could use Tailscale to setup a VPN.

I turned off all port forwarding and use Tailscale with ARC. Just make sure you’re connected to Tailscale on the phone before trying to use ARC… This will help situations like throwing the phone out the window , wondering why it cannot find the core… :joy:

Hey @David_Burkholder,

Ben with support there, thanks for writing in!

Following up on your thread, I wanted to check in to see if you were still having issues getting Arc setup? While the use of a VPN falls outside the scope of our support, we may be able to assist you if you could provide the make and model of your ISP router?

Outside of that, you always have the option to move your current ISP router into a modem, and manually add your own router to your network setup.

Either way, we’ll be on standby for your reply, thanks!

Hi Benjamin, See pics. Thanks.

Thanks for that!

If you head to page 46 via the manual for this model, this will provide instruction on how to setup port forwarding:

Have you tried reaching out and asking them directly if this is an option they can active for your account?

I am able to setup port forwarding. When I look in the Roon settings it shows I am connected and ready but when I open ARC it just keeps searching for the Roon Core.

Hi @David_Burkholder,

Thanks for the status update!

  1. Does this issue happen on both wifi as well as cellular data?
  2. Are you able to run the Roon Remote app on the same device?

With that, I’d be curious to see if the same issue occurs when uninstalling and re-installing the APK version of Arc:
https://download.roonlabs.net/builds/RoonARC.apk

When I open the Roon app on my remote it shows as ready but when I open the ARC app it just hangs not connecting to my Core.

Update- I am able to login after logging out but it only works with wifi. It has a error message it isnt configured outside my network but in the remote app it shows as ready.

Thanks Benjamin. I finally got it to work. I think it was a login issue.
