Roon Nucleus as Roon Core Machine, ether net connection
Arcam ST60 Streamer
The Arcam ST60 is not recognized as an “audio zone” when it’s in sleep mode- I have to go to it’s location and power it fully on. Is there any way to remedy this by using my Ipad or Iphone (no similar problem with my Powernode)?
My music source is strictly Qobuz via Roon software.
Hi Barry I have the Arcam SA30 and it suffers the same problem.
Like a caveman I have to press the power button on the remote control every morning before I can play music about 30-45 second’s later.
When in sleep mode the Streamer and Amp are effectively in a powered down mode, but listen to the remote power from the remote.
That’s not great Roon Ready integration if it can’t wake it up. Uses less power I guess if the network isn’t operational in standby mode. I have the option on my NAD to power off network/ARC in standby ot leave it network standby. Same with my Naim if it was in deep sleep mode it would need to be powered up but it only went in that mode if you put it in it manually. Always in network standby otherwise.
Yes my Matrix Audio streaming pre amp is the same as well.
Certainly the SA30 can run a little warm in use (the Class A goodness), so me me it is a sensible compromise.
Not sure about the ST60 though as it is just a streamer, but it probably uses the same board.
Actually, both the SA30 and the ST60 have a setting called “Network Standby”, that if enabled will allow Roon to take it out of standby mode.
I seem to remember it was set to off by default…
On my SA30 it puts it in standby, but because it is off the option is not available to take it out of standby, at least based on my testing.
I also have the Arcam set to go to sleep after 60 minutes of no activity which of course might override this , but I don’t remember it working before I set that up .
Network standby usually allows the device to be woken up via the lan, that’s the whole point of it and to as why it’s called network standby. The network port is kept active to listen so it can be powered on. Odd that it would not behave like that. Even auto sleep should not change this, doesn’t on any devices I have.
You lot are genius, you prompted me to check my NAD as the other one always shows up and lo and behold it has a setting for Ethernet standby! Now can wake with ROON.
Yes I agree with what it should do, but when I tested it in the past it did not do it though.
I am away until the weekend but maybe I will try it again then and turn off Arcam Sleep mode as well
@garye I am glad our ramblings turned into a bonus for you
