Artist Editor fails to load certain artists (ref#4JUAV9) [Fix in Early Access]

I asked the mods to reopen it. The “solved” flag was removed as well.

I have the same issue. The Artist editor won’t load a couple of artists. Problem on all clients (iPad and Windows).

Same issue here, can’t edit a lot of artist, Mark Knopfler is just one of many.

· In build 267 the artist editor hangs on artists with two or more accented characters and dipthongs.

In the above screenshot, the second name of the conductor/composer is wrong. This is normally a simple artist edit but in the new release (or perhaps an earlier release) it is not possible to edit artists with multiple accents and diphongs. In this case there are two Czech accents and the artist editor just hangs. With other artists, the behaviour appears to be normal with a maximum of one accented character.

Hi everyone,

Sorry for the double-post, but can anyone provide us with a recent example of an artist for whom the Artist Editor failed to load? We’d like to look at a more recent set of logs. This bug seems to require a combination of factors to align so it’s taking a little more digging to pin down. Thank you.

I’m not sure if this is spreading but I seem to have lots now. I triggered the edit of all these just a few minutes ago (now is Jun 5, 22:09 CET) All of the following are credited on a single album of mine (not on streaming but identified, though quite heavily edited credits and other properties) namely:

Affected on this album from the credits I added are at least:

X (the band; not directly credited here, but members of the band are, see further down)

Exene Cervenka (of X)

John Doe (also of X), whom I possibly have renamed “John Doe (X)” myself to prevent confusion.

When it was first reported here for Chrissie Hynde, I found that I could not edit her, but at that point it was the first example I had encountered. Now I seem to run into it a lot.

Interestingly, because I had assumed that any artist that I couldn’t edit might well be the same for everyone else, it appears that that’s not the case. Like you, I can’t edit Hank Williams and John Doe, but I don’t have an issue with Susan Voelz.

Weird. Did you have them in your library or added for testing? I had nothing from A.R.Rahman and added an album just now, then immediately headed to the artist and can edit him:

I’ve continued trying others and I could edit 5 artists that I tried in a row, the next one failed, Ana Tijoux (not related to the aforementioned album):
