Many thanks for the detailed suggestions. I think I made a rookie error in assuming that deactivating Wifi on the Virgin hub was the same thing as Modem mode. I will do some more testing based on the suggestions above and report back.

As said mentioned earlier itâs sounds like you have two active routers on the same LAN, to find out more look up âDouble NATâ, to check in Windows use the tracert command i.e tracert 8.8.8.8 the first two hops will be local/private IP addresses if double NAT exists.
macOS and Linux use the traceroute command.
Hi all. The issue is resolved. I set the Asus to Wireless access point mode. Thanks for the helpful comments.
Although I not completely computer illiterate, networks are something I very rarely faff with. There is so much terminology that doesnât make sense unless networking is your profession or hobby.
