Hi Roon Support Team, I am experiencing a persistent issue with Roon ARC when using my cellular network (in my car). I consistently get a red error message stating that ARC cannot communicate with Qobuz. Here are the details of my situation and the troubleshooting steps I have already performed: • The Issue: Inside my home network (Wi-Fi), everything works flawlessly with Qobuz. However, as soon as I switch to cellular data (4G/5G) in my car, Roon ARC fails to connect to Qobuz. • Isolation Test: I tested Tidal under the exact same conditions (on cellular data in my car) and it works perfectly, even with the 30-second free previews. This confirms that my phone's cellular data connection and port forwarding to my Roon Core are working correctly. • Troubleshooting already done: I have already tried logging out of Qobuz from my Roon Core settings at home, restarting the Core, and logging back in to refresh the tokens. I also verified that Roon ARC has full permissions for background data usage on my phone. The issue persists only with Qobuz on cellular networks. I am using an iPhone 8 Could you please look into this and help me resolve this Qobuz authentication/streaming issue on ARC? Thank you, Alberto
Describe your network setup
ISP: Fastweb. Network device: Stock Fastweb Router. Core OS: Mac mini M4. Mac OS 26. Arc OS: iPhone8 iOS 16 .
Thank you for reaching out and for providing such thorough troubleshooting details right off the bat! Testing Tidal on the exact same cellular connection was a fantastic isolation step.
Because Roon ARC is functioning perfectly with Tidal and your Core connection is demonstrably solid, this actually points away from Roon ARC or your Roon Core being the root cause of the problem.
When you stream Qobuz via ARC, your phone still needs to communicate directly with Qobuz’s Content Delivery Network (CDN) to fetch the actual audio files. The symptoms you are describing indicate that your cellular data provider is having trouble routing traffic specifically to Qobuz’s servers, or they may be throttling/blocking that specific CDN. Since it works flawlessly on your home Wi-Fi, the routing issue is strictly tied to your mobile network provider.
To get your music playing in the car, you have a couple of straightforward options:
Use a VPN (Fastest Workaround): Installing and activating a VPN app on your iPhone while using cellular data will route your traffic around your mobile provider's default routing and DNS rules. This almost always restores communication with Qobuz immediately.
Contact Your Mobile Provider: You can reach out to their support team and report that their network is failing to properly resolve or connect to Qobuz's streaming services.
Give a VPN a try on your next drive and let us know if that successfully bypasses the cellular roadblock!
