I am the New Zealand Atoll distributor. One of the shop dealers here, Edwin at Searle Electronics, LOVES the AT300.
Here are his comments over a few weeks which I collated:
And here it is. The Atoll flagship streamer.
No idea why, but it sounds wicked. The Baby Atoll MS120 is great. And then this comes along. I’m torn. Smooth detailed punchy. I lack words to describe it. Has to be heard to understand. It has what the Goldnote had ,and more. Thanks Stephen Seque from Soul to Sole Audio.
To anyone who would like a listen while it lives in my lounge, let me know and I can take it to work for a blast on the Gauder Akustik Arconas, powered by the Atoll AM400 or to a few lucky ones they can come to our house.
Love this passion for great sounds
(Peter Gabriel Don’t Give Up)
Used to struggle hearing the subtle details in the background with records and cds. But with streaming, what some people might call micro detail. Just becomes part of the music. My original cd from Don’t give up,simply can not touch this new remaster. One of my favorite tracks, for little back ground details.
Yes love the Atoll toys. It is certainly an amazing product. Not often that gear at this level gets so many people excited.
Anyone here that would like a demo? So far all good feedback from those that got to hear it. Even it’s little brother the MS120 impressed. Myself, well I can’t get enough of them.
Mark: Well well well a hole in the ground lol another listen on a different system today. Was with Edwin at Gary’s and listened to 4 different front ends. The Atoll was way in front beautiful clean and smooth
Had another great day, different gear and great company on the west coast. The Atoll didn’t fail to impress.
So far this streamer is fantastic. I never thought I could hear better dynamics between equipment. This machine seems to have headroom to spare. Hooked it up directly into the Atoll AM300 power amps running in bridged mode. And using the ST300 as a preamp. My goosebumps are getting bigger. And music isn’t even loud yet.
Rainstorm, who cares. Streaming music is just the thing for a stormy night. Loving this ST300.
(Tears For Fears Woman in Chains)
Very difficult for this track to sound good. Bright and can be harsh. Atoll ST300 controls this with finesse and control. Even the bass is more noticeable than ever before. Vocals are so smooth.
(The Police Every Breath you Take)
Wow goosebumps when it started playing. The spatial throw from this streamer is awesome. Always had great sound but it has lifted again.
Wow it sounds awesome.
It sounds insanely good. Bass is more, had to dial back my sub. At a guess they use a very good clock to make this happen. Possibly the class A output stage also helps.
I’ve got tears in.my eyes. I’m not joking. It gives me goosebumps
Comparing the MS120 to this is nuts. It just has this ability to spread the sound. The 120 seems less open.
That Atoll ST 300 blew everything out of the water.
That (ST300) still gives me goosebumps. I showed that my arm hair was literally standing up! Simply magic.
Gary:
With the family away yesterday I had a rare day of raining musical pleasure, an uninterrupted epic of experiential hi-fi delights with my audiophile friends Mark and Edwin trying out a bunch of different streamers and comparing their fidelity. The AVM was fine, the Goldnote was finer but the knockout of the day was the new Atoll ST300 streamer / DAC / preamp. So good it gave me goosebumps with its flawless rendition of Qobuz hi-res sounds. Thanks, guys, that was the most fun I’ve had in ages! (Sadly, I forgot to take pics, but what the heck…)
