Describe the issue

I have a Chord Poly and Mojo 2 combo. I have the Roon Nucleus configured at my home and I am able to connect from a different house via Roon ARC. However, everything is downsampled to 44 KHZ. I am using a iphone to access the roon arc to send the audio to my poly mojo 2 combo. How do i fix this please?

Describe your network setup

I have a pretty serious network but it is all working with Roon arc

You might need to connect your Mojo 2 directly to your iPhone using USB to keep the iPhone from down sampling.

Doesnt really make sense as the regular roon app works like a charm and Poly is full wifi not just bluetooth. Anyone else running into this?

Hi @Michael_Aaron ,

If you are using Roon ARC and the iPhone as an in-between, then the iPhone is sending the stream over Airplay to the Mojo instead of the Roon Ready protocol, and Airplay is limited in quality. If you wish to stream to the Mojo via Roon Ready, you’ll need to use the regular Roon app to initiate the stream instead of ARC. Hope this helps!

So how would i do that remotely? Run roon arc then open the regular roon app?

This is Roon ARC playing over cellular to my iPhone 13 Pro Max. The iPhone is connected to a Mojo 2 via camera adapter and USB cable. This eliminates the iPhone down sampling issue. If you want to use Roon instead of Roon ARC, you need a Roon server at the second location. I think it’s also possible using a non-supported VPN.

And this is Roon ARC playing on my iPad Mini 6 through a USB connected DragonFly Cobalt through my speaker system. The Cobalt down samples to 96/24.

Has anyone got this going with Poly and Mojo2 or SOL? Pretty low end tool ARC if you can’t make this work with WIFI.

This is not a solution or your not explaining it properly. Can you use poly and mojo2 together or it won’t work with any wifi streamer?

Let me see if I can explain.

If you are at home (where your Roon server is) on your own WiFi, you would normally use the Poly/Mojo2 as a Roon Ready endpoint with Roon using the Roon (remote) app on a phone, tablet of computer.

If you are on another WiFi network away from your home, you cannot use the Roon (remote) app with the Poly/Mojo2 as a Roon Ready endpoint.

You can use Arc on another WiFi network, but to connect your iPhone running Arc you would only have 2 options. Connect via AirPlay or connect the iPhone to the Mojo2 like @Jim_F has mentioned.

The Roon server cannot be used across different WAN/LAN networks.

Without a fair bit of complicated networking magic you will not get the Poly/Mojo2 acting as a Roon Ready endpoint as if you are at home with the Room server.

The other solution is to have a laptop with Roon Server installed and unauthorise your home Roon Server to use the laptop Roon server on another WiFi network. Alternatively take out a second subscription with Roon, so then you can have two Roon Servers running.

I hope this helps.

Yes, I wrote that :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

So basically your telling me that the ARC software does not have the capability to point to a roon ready device like the regular roon software does. Pretty crappy in my mind then. Why on earth would they only set this up as airplay. If you are using Roon I would think that these users would be most interested in sound quality and just just the cataloging. Makes no sense besides the fact that Roon developers did not think that through. In terms of the complicated networking, not really as you could set this up as a vpn from your cellphone into the home network and then just use the regular roon app. Thanks for the response.

Yes, a VPN would allow your Roon (remote) device (assuming a smartphone) to connect with your Roon Server. Playback would be limited to the Roon (remote) once enabled as an endpoint.

Getting audio to the Poly/Mojo2 would still face the same issue.

The desired use you seek isn’t what Arc was built for.

I understand what you seek though.

The only way to use Arc with your Mojo2 is via a cable. This is what I do if I take my Mojo2 with me when I work away.

I feel you misunderstand the concept of what ARC is and what it was created for. Playing to Roon Ready devices was never its goal.

Roon Ready and the streaming protocol they developed RAAT is not designed for streaming over high latency internet connections, it’s a local network protocol designed for low latency streaming environment it requires very strict timing. If it experiences latency it drops out which is why robost networks are generally essential for Roon.

Arc uses its own method to deal with the delays that come with internet, it allows you to play your collection on your via headphones or a connected DAC. Additionally you can use the phones system stuff such as Bluetooth or Airplay (iPhone)to play wirelessly to another but it has no understanding of Roon Ready by design as explained above it’s not suitable for this scenario.

I have a Poly Mojo2 combo, there’s no way to get it to work with Arc using WiFi between your phone and the Poly.
You can get it to work outside of Roon using DNLA to Poly, using either your phone or Poly as a hotspot in tandem, I can’t remember which, then use an app to stream from Tidal or Qobuz.

I got it to work but it’s too much hassle and there are easier solutions to get music on the go.
