I am actually loosing patience as this thread has opened for weeks.
Regarding the toggling of Local Network access, is it something your development team is working on ? (for me it is a concern as I do switch off my Mac in the evening so when I restart I need to do the toggling).
As for the RAATServer it does NOT crash at all when Roon Remote is running when I moved to the Audio tab and the flickering happens.
Let’s review the case to ensure we pick the most efficient and timely resolution pathway here. The longevity of this thread seems to have arisen more from miscommunication than from any known technical issue.
If you’re running the latest Roon build, then you likely already have fixes to any multicast traffic handling issues within Roon that were affecting users several releases/months ago.
You shouldn’t need to toggle Local Network access more than one single time after each Roon update if you are running any build later than MacOS Sequoia 15.7.1, including Tahoe. Restarting shouldn’t cause any problems.
Reviewing this thread, we don’t seem to have have any information about the underlying network and how your Roon Remotes, the Cobalt, and the server machine are connected. We’ll need to know about the network topology to ensure that multicast traffic is forwarding correctly between RoonServer and Remotes.
Do you have a single router or a mesh network? What is the network topology serving the relevant endpoints here?
Logs show Roon Remotes losing sight of RoonServer, prompting the server to reinitiate the handshake. Logs also show requests timing out between your server and the RAATServer instance in the Sequoia remote.
Please ensure multicast forwarding is toggled on in any router settings page to which you have access. The more information you can share relevant to your network setup, the more equipped we’ll be to assist here.
The problem is addressed, meaning the flickering is gone for now. I had running on my Sequoia OS an Antivirus with firewall on. I disabled the firewall and the issue is gone for now.
Now the toggling on and off on Local Network needs to happen every time I restart my Mac mini running Sequoia on the server side, which is a bug. II restart it as when not using Roon, I shut down the MacMini every time I read a lot of literature online and hopefully you will address it soon.
Glad to hear you have been able to fix the flickering issue.
The local network toggle is a known issue that was caused by Apple and a recent macOS update. We’re actively looking for a solution, but also hopeful that apple will correct the issue they shipped the update with as well.
Any fixes on our end will always appear in our software release notes here:
