Audio zones missing after Roon software update (ref#UXXB5U)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· None of the above quite fits

None of the above quite fits

· None of these quite match

Tell us what's going on

· I was using Roon to send signal to two different audio systems that play simultaneously to create a quadraphonic effect. Each system had a designated audio zone. Updated the software recently and the zones have disappeared from the menu. how can we fix this.

Tell us about your home network

· Since Roon is playing from the Mac mini ( server)speakers this means supposedly that internet connection, router and vpn should not be relevant. I want to fix this before transferring everything to a new Roon nucleus that I am waiting to install to replace the Mac.

Hello @alaincrondeau1

Thank you for reaching Roon support.

macOS Sequoia (version 15+), has tighter (and more obfuscated) network security settings than preceding MacOS versions.

Can you please navigate to macOS System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network, and make sure Roon and Roon Server are allowed.

If it is already enabled, toggle it off and on again. Then reboot your Mac, and see if the same issue persists.

Hi @alaincrondeau1,

Sequoia and Tahoe have more granular network restrictions for applications than previous MacOS releases.

Roon updates will sometimes prompt the OS to sever RAAT’s connection to the network interface, including the loopback by which it communicates with Apple coreaudio and your locally-controlled Zones.

Retoggling Roon’s local network permissions in your MacOS settings per the instructions in the post above resolves the vast majority of cases. Please let us know if you’re still having issues.

Thank you!
