· FRITZ!Box 7690, Roon ROCK (early access) on Intel NUC, Auralic Aries mini OS 9.6), several iPad and iPhones and Macs, all running latest Patch of latest OS
Nothing at all has changed in my whole network and audio setup for the past 6 months or so. I can ping the Aries mini as well control it on its web GUI using Safari browser and the device IP. So it is online and network access is fine.
The Aries Mini is not always on since it feed one of my systems that I hardly use in everyday life. but normally when I switch it on it is a matter of 30 seconds to show up in Roon.
Even though I am not a third level supporter, I do work in IT. So please do not ask me if I rebooted my devices or anything like that 😜. I have done it all on every single device in the chain, even on the two unmanaged network switches in the signal chain.
Just speculating here: Since Auralic is gone, could it be that this is a license or compatibility issue between the newer Roon releases and Auralic’s OS no longer being updated?
No, no licensing issues. What output is your Mini set to?
If you set it to “Aries output” and reboot, does it surface in Roon?
And the obvious question is also, have you disabled-wait-reenable Roon Ready in Aries settings?
Yes, I have done all of that. It’s always set to “Aries outputs”. Several reboot without any changes and also several reboots, including your recommended changes/disabling and enabling roon ready, also switching between using the mini as a lightning device as well as a UPnP renderer. To no effect.
I repeat, the really strange thing is that this has been working for years, the mini performed updates automatically. I have not accessed the web GUI in years because this was an absolutely reliable configuration. And it has been over a year since I made the last considerable changes in my network set up.
Plus, the mini is pingable and accessible. It just won’t show up in Roon anymore.
You can close the post/ticket. Sometimes I do not understand IT. I have gone through the same cycle for the 4th or 5th time again, and now it works again.
First you do not change a thing, it stops working… now I tried the same stuff a few times… 4 times to no effect. 5th time is the charm. I do not get it. Anyway, work again. Thanks anyway.
