I had also problems with the update to 1253 on Windows 10.
First Core did not start anymore after automatic update. Had to reinstall from manual download…
Then Remote did update and get caught in an endless loop. Download, install, restart roon. Settings still shows 1246 and started download again, install, restart and after restart still 1246. In a never ending loop.
Had to install Remote also from manual download and everything is fine.

So I can confirm the automatic update mechanism is still broken on Windows 10 (with all recent updates)

Windows 11 - Core & Remotes.
I seem to be stuck in an endless update loop with Build 1253 - see pic.

Installing / updating just leads back to Build 1253.

Edit: manual re-install from this page has updated all my Remotes & Core to Build 1254.

Yes, even with 1254 I have the same automatic update problems as with 1253, so I updated manually.
I hope they fix it in the next versions

B1254 Update of Windows Client still does not work - need to install "rooninstaller64.exe" manually

As with the update to B1253 also with the update to B1254 the in-programm update of the Windows Client still does not work. After the update it is still B1253 - and the update starts again … and again … and again … Only manual installing the latest “rooninstaller64.exe” leads to an installed B1254 … Windows 10 Pro v 22H2 - build 19045.2788

The core gives me the “Update avaiable” message, but if I install it, when Roon restarts it’s still on build 1246 and a new “Update available” message pops up.

I’m having the same issue but with Build 1253 installed

The lastest release announcement says that you still have to update by installing the setup file:
