B1695 and earlier: Roon server fails to start

Roon Server and client are both on my Mac Studio running macOS Golden Gate. After starting up my computer and firing up Roon a message appears that client is ‘waiting’ for Roon Server. (The Roon Server icon is not visible in my taskbar either). After I manually start Roon Server, everything works as it should…

Known issue with macOS 27. Most of it seems to be audio devices not found, but I think that the client not being able to start the server is one of them (seems to be because macOS thinks that server is a threat). There are lots of threads about it in Support (with production) and a fix seems to be on the way. (AirPlay not functioning in Roon, works elsewhere (ref#4AYESU) - #5 by Stephen)

There is an article with workarounds, and starting Server manually is one of them:

I think this might be unrelated and I believe someone looked at and fixed it today? Just waiting on my fixes because we release a hotfix (soon).

I am waiting patiently :slightly_smiling_face:

@Jan_Willem The update was just posted. Let me know if you hit any issues

@stephen For now, Roon Server is starting up. It takes about half a minute before it’s operational, which is longer than I’m used to…

Hi @Jan_Willem,

Our log requests aren’t going through to the server. At your convenience, can you please locate the logs folder within the RoonServer folder housing your database, zip the logs folder, and upload it here?

Thank you!

Hi @connor

just uploaded…

After the Mac has been in sleep mode last night, Roon seems dead: nothing happens when I press play. After restarting Roon, everything works again.
