Describe the issue

Since upgrading my MacBook to MacOS Sequoia my scheduled backup is failing (Backup failed at hh:mm:ss / Backup directory not available). My Nucleus+ Serial # is 94C6911FC754 & my Nucleus+ & MacBook are running Roon version 2.0 (build 1462). Are you able to assist, please?

Hi @Rodney_Clark,

Thank you for posting.

Please check first that the OS update hasn’t reverted the local network access privacy settings.

On your Mac, open the System Settings and Navigate to Privacy & Security → Local Network. Verify that Roon has local network access there. For due diligence, also open the Network → Firewall tab in System Settings and verify that Roon has network access there, as well.

If Backups are failing to a network storage location, we’ll need a more specific overview of your network topology; specifically, where are your Nucleus, MacBook, and storage location all connecting to the network, and what hardware are they using?

Hello again,

It looks like it is a known Sequoia issue …

**Hostname changed to “Mac”
This is a known bug. A temporary fix involves running the following terminal command:
bash sudo scutil --set HostName “Your Desired Hostname”

I haven’t tried this yet, however, there is plenty of evidence on reddit that this will solve my problem.

And regards,
Rod
