Hi. I have recently went from a NAS to a NUC running ROCK. I am in the process of copying over my music files from a backup server on my network to the NUC. It has taken 2 days and should be finished later today. I did take a backup before shutting down my NAS. If I restore, will the back up change the date each album was added to my library back to the original setting on my NAS, or will the date added remain as is on the new NUC?
I think that would depend on the date choice you made in settings and if you chose file date that might have an impact.
I have had a look through Roons settings and I can’t find any date setting for files. Can you tell me where to find it please?
Thanks guys. I would be using the defaults settings here on my old NAS. Does the backup store this setting, so that when I restore, my albums will now list in the date I added before I moved to a NUC?
The database should have the original data as stored. However, if you change the library option, it will trigger a rescan and fill in the data using the new selection. Also, if you move the library, when Roon senses that it is a new storage location, it will probably also trigger a rescan to verify.
Hopefully, you followed the library migration FAQ, because beyond losing the date, if done wrong, Roon will see the files as “new” and not your old files, so you might also loose all your edits, play counts and playlist connections.
Thanks guys, I have restored the backup and apart from 3 rogue albums, everything has worked great.
