Hi. I’ve met a problem with some bad file tags.
It happend that in some album file tags i have left by accidend a double space after the - in the structure
ARTIST NAME - ROLE
this resulted in a spurious - in the artist name, for example:
now… i corrected the file tags, i’ve rescanned the album, i tried to delete the album and import it again in roon… : but the artists name keeps that way.
Any solution?
Did you clean up the library after moving the album out of roon´s watched folders? This is necessary for a re-import from the scratch, otherwise roon would memorize former credits.
If this does not help, there might be traces of the wrong tags still in the files.
Yes, I’ve removed the files from the roon share, cleaned the roon library, checked that the wrong name (with - at the end) is not there anymore, also changed the folder name and the file names. then copied back in roon share.
but still in the credits i see the bad names…
Hi @Niccolo_Terzi,
Thanks for reaching out to us about this issue. Is it possible that Roon is still analyzing the files you added back in? If it is you should see a spinning circle towards the top of the Roon GUI (i.e user interface).
Hi @daniel
no, the scan is very fast. In any case, the bad names appear… so it seems that roon has them stored somewhere… and no matter what i do, when that album is uploaded, they are associated to it.
It’s something that happend other times in the past… i don’t remember in which albums. sometimes i solved by merging with the correct artist.
You see the bad names additionally to the correct ones?
I have no idea how they survived but would it be possible to manually remove them from the affected albums?
Had such cases with bogus artists, e.g. ´Mozart, composer´ or ´LSO, conducted by Colin Davis´ originating from ripping process taking over CDtext or SACDtext. Have never understood how these survived a tag cleanup but it did I had to manually remove them.
No, there are no roon metadata for that album credits… so i just see the bad names.
I could remove the file tags … or manually edit the artists names…
I reported this just because it seems a bug, and cannot solve it…
Can you share a screenshot of your Roon Settings → Library → Import settings? What is strange is that I do not see the artists you have in your original screenshot at al. It appears to be the same album, but the artists listed on our end are very different, they also look fine in the File Tags manager:
Hi @noris
you cannot reproduce it because i have corrected the file tags. and as your import of the file has no problems, it seems that there are no hidden wrong tags.
you can try to reproduce the problem by editing the file tags on that (or any) file.
in the personnel tag, put a double space after the - in the line
ARTIST NAME - ROLE
on my system, this result in a name like “artist name -”
for that track
Hi @Niccolo_Terzi,
