The only entry I’ve found for BBC radio 4 live radio says 'Station unavailable ’ when i try to start it. Does it need to be fixed or could a new entry be added?
No problem here …
Is it just BBC R4 or other BBC stations too?
I suppose 3 and 2 might be useful - and 1 would make the set.
BBC Radio 1, 2 and 3 are available, and both AAC 320 kbps (UK-only) and AAC 96 kbps work.
Does that mean you can’t play any of them - or can’t find them?
Hi,
You can add any BBC station in 320 aac quality from this link:
https://garfnet.org.uk/cms/tables/radio-frequencies/internet-radio-player/bbc-national-and-local-radio-hls-streams/
I am in SEE Europe, works so far.
You could, but those links end up with (edit: almost) the same URLs as used by Roon anyway.
2nd Edit: hmm, I’ve just VPN’d to the US and those slightly different links still give 320k - that can’t be right.
The only ones ive tried have been bbc radio 4 and 2 and neither have worked. Have just tried again and still nothing.
Can you try a flac station - for example Radio Paradise.
What are you running your Roon server on?
Radio paradise works.
Running on a nucleus one.
I wonder if you are having a codecs problem - the Nucleus comes with them installed, but can you check the following please:
Try CJSW and WRFG stations - these are aac and mp3 streams only.
If these are ok then I’ll move this to Support > Nucleus Support
Cjsw and wrfg both work.
Ok, one more thing - it could be a DNS cache problem. Try rebooting router and nucleus.
Rebooted router then nucleus. Wrfg, cjsw and paradise still work, bbc radio 4 doesn’t.
Could it just be that the current bbc radio 4 hasn’t been made available? If i search in Roon for bbc i find many radio stations and the ones i have tried do work - even bbc radio 4 extra - but the normal bbc radio 4 is not listed. The link I’ve used for radio 4 was found some time in the past but when i select it Roon says station unavailable.
Yes it is. How have you been searching? Use the top right magnifying glass and hit return (radio stations do not appear in the drop down). The BBC changed URLs some time ago - you’ve probably been using an out of date one.
Great!
Ive been using the search term ‘bbc’ ,going to the live radio section and pressing more. That gives a long list of stations and bbc radio 4 is not there. Ive just tried it again twice. Theres nothing to suggest its an incomplete list.
But as you say if i search on ‘bbc radio 4’ i do find it - and it works!
Thanks very much for the help everyone.
Ahh, I see. The ‘more’ button will only show the first (edited)50 stations - there are more BBC results than that.
