I love my Apple Superdrive. The look and feel is unbeaten (imho). It also fits with my Waversa’s aestethiks

This. It’s a beast. It’s big, sturdy and fast. I tried the interchangeable no-name junk. This has been rock solid.
What’s the Lg drive you currently have?
My advice is to get two or three different USB drives from different brands. Sometimes a CD just won’t rip with my very pricey Pioneer BDR-XS06 but it rips just fine with an inexpensive LG AP70NS50. Sometimes it’s the other way around. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason which drive works better with which disc.
