@jussi_laako with the 44.1k and 48k LED indicator of Cyan 2
Is led OFF = 44.1k and led ON = 48k , for you ?
Or is my friend’s unit faulty

Can you remember in which firmware this was fixed? And where to find the version number of the D-6?
So that I can check whether I have the latest version?
Can you run DSD512 with new ultralight modulators and sinc-filters (sinc-M for example) on M1 cpu? My i5-11400T can’t do this.
There’s only been 2 firmwares.
The launch firmware (1.0) and then the one after I told them there was a DSD512 bug (1.1)
I can’t recall how to check but it might be in the install instructions that tells you how to check:
I can, see below.
With other Mac activity at the same time, 3 of these cores might cause a stutter but if doing nothing else but HQP, should be ok.
That’s poly-sinc-gauss-long, which is clearly less demanding than the sinc-filters. I’ve found sinc-M to sound superior in my setup. I can run that filter in DSD512 also.
Unfortunately, there is nothing about the version number in the manual
If anyone knows how to check the version number on the SMSL devices, I would be very grateful for information.
Yep, I’m more than happy with gauss-long. Sounds sublime.
I have no interest in any other filters these days
Not the manual. The upgrade instructions. Did you download the firmware and look at the instructions that come with it?
Even German RME doesn’t include firmware versions in their user manuals, so nothing unusual
Ok, I see. But unfortunately it doesn’t say any more. Maybe you can also read out the version number with the update programme, I would have to check. Thank you
Yep that’s what I was thinking too - start the upgrade process and it might show up before you need to do the actual update.
I understand, I was just curious since I’m planning a server upgrade myself. It would be nice to know if M1 is something to consider.
My M1Max can do a bit more regarding filters. And M1Ultra even more. Since these have more performance cores. M1Max cannot do sinc-Mx to DSD512 though.
But I’m personally using poly-sinc-gauss-long/poly-sinc-gauss-hires-lp throughout. sinc-M, sinc-L or such are not for me.
Seen this @jussi_laako ? Specs claimed are quite impressive
Approx the price of Cyan 2
Doesn’t sound like you can fully bypass its modulator though right?
Well, I connected a screen/keyboard and finally it’s normal that I couldn’t find the DAC The NUC’s Secure Boot prevented the NUC from starting.
Now everything seems OK.
What is the difference between the normal version and the Ramfs version?
Hi all,
I fully agree on the reply from databassgoes…
I am happy with the built quality, performance and sound quality. Although one never stops trying to explore new possibilities.
I hope that Ian will investigate one day the possibilities to fully use dsd and take advantage from the HQPlayer features.
I do use HQPlayer with the mono dac and Ropieee, but think there will be some advantages to gain.
But for now very happy and looking forward for new developments on this area.
Regards
Looks roughly like a copy of Mola-Mola Tambaqui.
Yeah, looks like no bit-perfect / native DSD… Just like Mola-Mola, or Cayin RU7.
Not much. Normal version has normal filesystem where you can also write, for example change name of the NAA. And it has some more utilities available. Memory footprint is also smaller. ramfs version loads entire OS to RAM during boot and then runs from the ramdisk. Downside is that most of the data held in RAM in this case is never touched in a particular machine.
Thanks.
ok, so no difference when listening.
For my NUC, which version would you recommend?
Right now, I’m with the ramfs.
If I want it installed on SSD in the future, is there a preferred version and how is this achieved?
Naa os activate or not the “turbo” mode on the Nuc?
I saw that there was a login, so I assume a password.
I am used to starting or turning off my Nuc and NAS remotely (for the Nuc, I use WakeonLan and ssh (command poweroff) to turn them off), is this possible with Naa Os? The Nuc Naa is at the bottom of a rack with not necessarily the easiest access
@jussi_laako is this how yours is working too for 44.1k x DSD256 vs 48k x DSD256 ?
led OFF = 44.1k and led ON = 48k ?
