Description of Issue

Qobuz just became available in Canada. I’ve subscribed. I want to stream almost all of my albums from it as I don’t like MQA. There seems to be better versions of most of my albums on Qobuz.

I’ve set the option to select anything other than MQA going forward, so no issue there.

I would prefer to switch the albums over automatically from Tidal to Qobuz. It would take me a couple hours to do it manually.

It occurred to me that it would be a good feature to be able to check periodically if better versions of albums has been added to any service and to add them automatically. If this feature were available I could use it to solve my issue.

I wasn’t able to find this discussed anywhere.

Thanks. It almost worked. The albums from Tidal in my library in Roon were listed in Tidal. I transferred them to Qobuz. That seemed to work but I don’t see the Qobuz versions in Roon. Maybe there’s a way to force Roon to see those.

There is currently an issue for Canadian subscribers whereby Qobuz albums will incorrectly report that they are 44.1 kHz when in fact they are hi-res. Roon and Qobuz are working on a fix.

Martin, that’s interesting. I do see some marked as hi-res and others at 44.1kHz. Regardless, it sounds better than Tidal, which has been using 44.1kHz MQA as the only option for a lot of my albums. I was not happy when they made that change. On Qobuz everything sounds as good or better.

Thanks Jim for the fix. It turns out you can’t use a trial version to solve this but the app doesn’t stop you or tell you it didn’t work. Now that I’ve subscribed, it worked perfectly.

STEPS
Here is how to do this for anyone else who wants to change service providers. You can Google how to do any of the steps although I found it pretty easy to figure out.

  1. Join Soundiiz. You’ll need at least a one month subscription. It cost me CAD$4.50.
  2. Link both the services (old and new).
  3. Transfer what you want (for me I selected everything; playlists albums, artists and tracks).
  4. Have a coffee. (It takes a while.)
  5. In Roon, Browse your new service (for me it was Qobuz), Favorite albums, MORE, right-click on one album, hit Ctrl+a, select “…”, select Add to Library.
  6. In Roon Settings, General, scroll down to streaming content preferences and set preference to your new service.
