More accurately ā€œmostā€ of the world excluded.

How many of those complaining are actually in the market for a Titan?

At least one. Hey Roon, first you take an age to make your box available in Europe, now you exclude us from holiday sales? What a load of :poop:

Iā€™m currently looking at options to cancel my Roon membership, and as a lifetime Plexpass holder, there seems to be a likely fallback.

Why are people always so ā€œentitled.ā€ Just because a company has a promotion in one geographic area, doesnā€™t mean it has to everywhere else. Why not feel happy for those that can get a discount? Itā€™s not like they increased the price elsewhere.

@Tim_Laing, I thought you had a Nucleus One in your cart.

As a Roon customer Iā€™m entitled to an opinion.

I would like Roon to work on the cost of a UK purchased One, at Ā£599 itā€™s Ā£200 more than the US based on exchange rates.

Yes, not a Titan but Iā€™m entitled to an opinion.

Hey Jim, thanks for your U$0.02.

Entitled, thatā€™s funny. I did have one in my cart back when they refused to sell it to me, and today, when I saw it was on sale I thought ā€œmaybe I can finally get on boardā€ but, alas! Foiled again. And as a paying client, I guess Iā€™m allowed to voice my displeasure on a public forum. Sorry if I upset you!!

Edit: when I say ā€œoneā€ I mean ā€œany Roon Box for a discounted priceā€. Anyway itā€™s too bad we canā€™t benefit from the lower price but, hey, itā€™ll give us a head start on Tariff World.

The Nucleus One is not on sale.

EDIT: Thereā€™s a huge difference between the Nucleus One and Nucleus Titan, in both performance and price.

You still have to factor in VAT (UK) vs no VAT (US) in the published price, and I suppose some import tax/tariff.

Anyway, itā€™s not unheard of for prices to differ in export countries. HiFi companies from UK are often significantly more expensive in the US, for instance. Just one quick example, a Rega P3 is USD1,125 in the US, thatā€™s Ā£892 by exchange rate. However, in the UK it costs Ā£660 (incl. VAT).

One may wish it to be otherwise, but there is a real overhead, after all, and one could also argue that customers at home shouldnā€™t have to subsidize those abroad. In any case, maybe there is a bit much blaming of Roon Labs for something that nearly everyone does.

Youā€™re not wrong @Suedkiez and you make very valid points.

If I were a US resident I would write the same and moan

I hung out on the Naim forum for a few years and can still hear the moaning of the US people about the eye-watering Naim prices in the US

Having lived overseas for 20+ years Iā€™m more than aware of the pricing models that companies use to subsidise various markets. Not a problem. But if a company that survives on memberships offers certain members a deal on a product, but because of my geographical location - theoretically meaningless in the interweb age - Iā€™m not eligible, I feel less like a member.

In this case, I understand that Roon has some kind of third party distribution arrangement for the EU. Of course, those guys balked at offering their clients, present and future, a deal. And thatā€™s fine, except, no it isnā€™t. See aforementioned discussion re ā€˜Membershipsā€™.

In price yes, in performance its not so clear

The Black Friday special that Iā€™m hoping for is a nice discount off lifetime membership. Iā€™m ready to pull the trigger but just need to be incentivized. Hint, hint.

Iā€™m not sure Roon want more lifetime memberships, itā€™s money upfront but then those members go on to need support for the rest of their lives, potentially many years of using the service and paying very little for it overall.
Hence the appeal of lifetime memberships to some people, but it is not overall good for Roon as a business, IMO.
There have been posts on here from people who expect to be able to hand their memberships over to other people after their death, I suspect thatā€™s already happened, Roon would never know.
ā€œLifetimeā€ should have a membership time limit IMO.

If I were to take out lifetime membership now and live until 80 it would be about $3 a month income for Roon overall.

I wouldnā€™t expect a discount, not if I valued the service and wanted Roon to survive.
Annual memberships seems to be the balance between value for both sides, again IMO.
