100% Agreed … go with what gets the job done.
There’s no point paying more for a solution which provides no audible benefit in your system. I gave up on “most” of this audiophile stuff a long time ago.
These days I simply use a RPi4 via USB into my Motu Mk5 lite… powered by a quality linear supply. Sounds great. The front end is not quite as good as the best source I have tried (Pi2aes with linear power - which by the way is super good) but its good enough, and provides me with multichannel audio capability for my active speakers.
