Cheech and Chong had a make believe bluesman named Blind Melon Chitlin.
It is interesting the number of blind bluesmen like Jeff Healey.

I’ve just spun this one up on my office system - fantastic!
Keep this up all.
I’m hoping to get some good listens from this thread.
Some great contemporary blues/blues-rock artists I like a lot:
Joe Bonamassa, Joanne Shaw Taylor, Ally Venable, Danielle Nicole, Robert Cray, Robben Ford
I mentioned him above, Still Got The Blues, and his Peter Green ’59 Les Paul.
As you did sir I’m sorry I missed that post as I read through the thread
Of course, the Robert Johnson recordings are root essentials, and don’t forget that Floyd Council and Pink Anderson were the influence for Syd Barrett to name ”The Pink Floyd.”
Maybe my top female blues pick would be Ana Popovic.
Mine would be Bonnie Raitt, who, IMHO, is at her best when she plays the blues.
That she is.
I nearly stated modern blues female player and I should have…lol.
My bad.
It would be a tough choice between Bonnie and Melissa Etheridge though
I need to listen to more of her stuff. I’ve only heard her duet “I’m in the Mood” with John Lee Hooker on “The Healer”.
Taj Mahal, Allman Brothers,Tedeschi Trucks Band, JJ Grey and Mofro.
And the documentary “Muscle Shoals” is great fun.
Yes, for sure, starting with her early 70s early stuff. More classic blues than later.
p.s. I love, love, love The Healer album.
I love both these albums. East-West is a stone cold classic.
Carolyn Wonderland is a cross between Bonnie Raitt, Janis Joplin, and Stevie Ray Vaughn.
Great pedigree…I need to check her out!
Freddie King. Eric Clapton often mentioned him as his favorite guitarist. He was fantastic in the 1950s and in his early 1970s albums on Shelter label. I used to see him live in early 1970s in Dallas Texas. A true legend.
