I have an intel NUC core, all hardwired. When I play MQA content through a grouped zone consisting of two identical Node 2i, only one (the first in the group) seems to unfold the content. Right now the roon decoder and renderer are “on”.
Is this a limitation of my core, or config? When I group the Nodes using BluOS, they both play full mqa (eg Roon sees as single endpoint).
NUC10i5FNK
External ssd
Gigabit cat 6 hardwire all zones
630 albums
External SSD
Wire to 2xnode 2i and many zones. (For now I am using and playing to only two zones)
Fwiw connected to Diy SE 300b tube amp / Omega Full range. I alternate in a diy Decware clone.
Second connection is via elekit pre to Diy 125w p/p amps based on Bob Latino design and b&w 702s2.
Both nodes have identical configs. In blueos config: Replay gain disabled. No external mqa dac. I am playing to external non mqa external dac. The lack of mqa “unfolding” is evidenced by bit rate Eg 88.2 v 44.1 etc. Latest firmware. I alternate between the analog out and the external topping dac out.
In Roon. Only the first node in the group of 2 decodes. If I set master clock priority to highest for any one, that takes the mqa decoding. If both are at one, back to the first.
As mentioned the grouped players when grouped with blueos work correctly. So that’s the way it will work. Just seems like I’ve hit a limit either in blueos with mqa licensing or roon, I don’t think processing power is a factor since the node does most heavy lifting.
Update the issue only occurs if the node is given any mqa duties. If using the core decoder, and disabling mqa on device setup in roon, signal path reflects end to end mqa.
