Yes it is, and one hopes (?) that it will be better than a PE firm holding them, which they’ve had for a while?
Nonetheless, I would not want to see Bose doing anything to screw with the brand…
This combined with the Masimo selloff of Denon-Marantz and the general apocalyptic language around the industry is disturbing.
What general apocalyptic language?
The article is about legacy brands (like Pioneer, Denon, Marantz, and Klipsch) potentially dying. If it bleeds, it leads, of course, but in this case, there appears to be major bleeding across the industry. Read the article for the details of some of the losses, but here’s the first paragraph:
Major audio brands may not survive another year as parent companies struggle to stay afloat.
Some of the biggest names in the audio industry are in trouble as Masimo and Voxx International, parent companies of legacy audio brands, struggle with mounting losses. Denon, Marantz, Klipsch, and Pioneer could disappear from stores by 2025, marking the end of decades-long leadership in high-end sound.
I read the article but don’t see anything to worry about. A lot of legacy companies exist just in name only, they are not the companies they once were.
It’s not just the audio industry, companies get bought by companies who already own other similar brands, in the end the uniqueness of each brand disappears as they are assimilated into the hive.
The audio industry is very much alive with some great products from newer brands.
Local Best Buy rep told me yesterday that although Best Buy carried McIntosh from day one, it came down that negotiations with Bose failed and they will no longer be carrying the brand.
He said that he was waiting on a email to address the current inventories on display.
This was the department head telling me this. I assume this is correct.
Best Buy by far is McIntosh’s biggest reseller in the US. Good way to start out with a new company acquisition. Way to go Bose.

Best Buy (Magnolia) was never a “real” McIntosh dealer. They only had a select few lower-end McIntosh products.
