Thanks @jamie, loving the focus on performance and stability (that was also my #1 feedback) and also loving these frequent little “newsletters” by the Roon team. Keep up the good work!
Be great to fix the arc connection issues on Android. Every update to arc it breaks it. Same network iPhone connects no issues. My DAP everytime have to reset it or reinstall it.
Thank you for releasing the update.
Keep up the good work.
While I think adding new features are good, it should not come at the cost of stability and speed.
Most people have limited amount of time to listen to music, and should be spared the frustration of trying to work out IT issues and having to restart all the time.
Great to see the focus on performance and stability.
Perhaps worth higlighting that one reason for large numbers of albums in tags is that it’s currently the only way to filter albums by genre in ARC (unless you only want a handful) - hopefully this might change in due course.
After installing latest update it was super speedy. But has now gone back to slow search again. Would it be possible to have rescan at a certain time and not every “x” hours. I could then set it to rescan when I am asleep.
Improvements in the basics was my hoped for direction, so this sounds good. However, my BIG wish was that ARC is made available to those of us who have ways of connecting to the internet that ARC presently does not recognize. Here in the UK, I use a 4g modem at home and have never been able to use ARC on the go. I possibly can at home, but what’s the point? There is no mention of this very basic issue that I could see.
There won’t be a fix for cgnat until/if the whole connection mechanism for ARC is replaced. Investigate using a work around or reconcile yourself to it not working.
Search seems snappier for items in my library not much difference if not. Search for ‘the the’ which is in my library still takes way too long 8 secs and often results in an error cannot connect to Roon search.
Thanks Ged. That was my assumption. Just wanted to let them know that the issue is still irritating for those of us who support ARC through our subscriptions but with no personal gain
We agree with this wholeheartedly, @David_Kuo. Listening time is precious and we’d like to do everything we can to remove any roadblocks to maximizing that time.
It means we’re doing what we can to improve the software so you’ll see the Roon Jellyfish (the dancing Roon logo displayed while your server works on something) less often. The battle isn’t over because we haven’t stopped working on it. We’ll continue doing what we can to make software-related causes for the jellyfish less frequent.
Our CTO tested the changes. We all care about delivering the best possible Roon experience, but nobody cares more than @brian. The marketing blah is entirely mine. My apologies if the blah is underwhelming, but the testing isn’t malarkey.
I’m not certain whose organizational idiosyncracies he put to the test. Maybe he saw @Manu’s folder of Fripp Riffs,
thought “PERFECT!”, and he had a go. Or, maybe he picked one of our random Deadheads and thought, “Whoa, there are 480 seemingly random versions of Dark Star in this folder?! Let me see how much faster Roon can handle this”. I’m not certain what he tested, but I know him well enough to trust he actually did it.
What I can say is that some of my own tags and organization habits certainly challenge the fact that I was a professional sound archivist for many years, and getting around in Roon is a lot more speedy now than it was this time last week. I’m happy.
