I do exactly the same. Then, I use Mp3Tag if I need further retagging
I use Metadatics.
It’s wonderful, with lots of powerful functions for text manipulation, cover art resizing, renaming files, numbering tracks etc…
You can even copy paste tags from one album to another.
I use Yate & it’s completely wonderful.
It’s completely & endlessly modifiable & the guy who made it is always on hand to help out & write little subroutines that have allowed me to modify entire box sets in just a few moves.
Yate… look no further.

I’ve been using Amoyshare ID3Genius on my Mac for a while. It’s a solid music tag editor that auto-fills missing info like art and artist names, also great for batch editing, too.
Hmm , looks very simplistic to me. But also on this page it says 4.8 stars and 6.5k Ratings but if you click on the TrustPilot link there are only five reviews!
After experiencing that I couldn’t restore Roon from my backup (despite having made several automatic backups every week to various destinations and backups of those backups) I decided a few years ago not to use Roon to tag my local files (and only to a very limited extent use ROON to tag my streamed albums). I found Yate Tagger, learned how it works, and spent a lot of (enjoyable) time tagging all my local files (eg musicians, recording date, location, source, notes etc.). Now I do not rely on Roon backups to work. All my tags are stored within the music files.
I can highly recommend Yate Tagger. It has a wealth of options for adjustments and automations that are really useful once you get to know it. Tagging directly to the files is actually as fast or even faster than tagging in Roon. And just after you save they show up in Roon.
Simplistic is a complement
THIS SOFTWARE IS DANGEROUS
autofix deletes all existing Tags and adds it’s own (Happily I made a copy to test)
Before
After
Meta! It’s modern, made with care, full of useful tools, and overall fantastic.
Blimey, who would design to just delete existing tags and not replace them, unfortunately tools like this give autotaggers a bad name with users then spending huge amounts of time manually tagging when they could save heaps of time with a decent tool.
Meta - Music tag editor is my go to. It has a native feel and great UI to boot
