Description Of Issue

I have my Arcam DAC, which to be fair is a bit old - but it works fine doing anything else but roon, as my default system output on Windows. It works when I use the Tidal desktop app, spotify, youtube. With everything. Allow exclusive mode is off.

But whenever I try to use it to play songs in my roon library (6 DSD 64 albums, 30 gb FLAC, Tidal) it won’t play. If I try to play a playlist, it just cycles through all the songs, skipping them in 0.5 seconds intervals until the playlist is “finished”.

It also happens when I connect my PC with toslink directly to the amplifier and switch system default output to the toslink.

Everything works fine whenever I use roon to stream directly to the m10 which is roon ready.

Hi @Nils_Askefalk,

Since you are using a Windows PC, I would verify that both Roon.exe and RAATServer.exe have been added as exceptions to your Windows firewall.

You can use these instructions to add the exceptions and the executables themselves would be located in your Database Location/Application folder path.

I would also add these exceptions to any Antivirus or other Firewall blocking applications you may have and ensure that you connected to your network via a Private network, not a Public one, see this guide for more information.

Hello @noris

I just checked Windows Firewall, and they were both already ticked as exceptions.

I do not have any other antivirus programs or other firewalls other than Windows’ firewall.

I have also verified that I am on a private network.

Is there anything else I can check and/or do?

So, I got it working.

I am not really sure exactly as to how, but now it seems to work.

I did try a few things;

  1. Updated all my drivers using a cracked version of Easy driver. I know, shame on me.

  2. “uninstalled” the DAC in windows devices and then I restarted my PC to see if windows would choose a new driver.

  3. went into roon audio settings for the DAC and after playing around with the settings, I reset them to default - and then it worked.

Hi @Nils_Askefalk,

Glad to hear you managed to resolve the issue with the driver updates + resetting the DAC settings!
