Description of the issue
My artist genre edits are all wonky. Please read on…
If I try to add a genre tag to an artist, that tag then doesn’t appear on the artist’s page. For example, here are my genre settings for Claudio Abbado:
You can see that I’ve added “Ballet” as a genre. However, after saving the Artist editor page settings and going back to the main artist page, you can see that “Ballet” doesn’t appear in the genres displayed:
Here, you can see pianist Kanako Abe’s Artist editor page. Notice all the genres that I’ve manually added:
However, none of them appear on her overview page:
There’s all sorts of fun permutations you can try. Here, I’m trying to have “Classical, Opera, Vocal Music” displayed as the artist’s genres:
But I end up with this:
Ok, you probably get the gist of it now.
To be honest, I’ve had this kind of problem with genre tags ever since I started using Roon a few years ago, but it was just happening with a few artists here and there, so I lived with it. But now, I see this with every artist in my library.
Please note that I’ve recently done a clean install of macOS as well as Roon (including the database), so this means that I have not had a corrupted database for years, since this is a relatively fresh install of everything.
I’ve tried reverting to a few previous backups from the last few weeks (back when I wasn’t having this problem), but it did not help. I’m wondering if the issue might have something to do with the latest Roon update, but I can’t be sure.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
