I cannot locate my roon Backup Folder in roon. I was backing up to RoonBackup on my iMac located in iCloud Drive > Documents > roon > RoonBackups but that has disappeared on my roon app.
Roon doesn’t support iCloud or OneDrive natively at this time; this requires integrated Apple or Windows permissions, respectively. If your desired scheduled Backup location is in iCloud, I recommend you instead create a folder on your Mac desktop and set iCloud to automatically sync the desktop.
I did create a Folder on my iMac. However, as noted above it doesn’t appear in the roon screen above, neither does my iMac computer. How do I accomplish that?
@Mark_Housel, I think perhaps we’re misunderstanding one another.
Roon can’t use iCloud as an active networked access location, because iCloud storage is protected by Apple permissions and requires authentication that isn’t built natively into Roon at this time.
Your screenshot shows that you’re trying to access a folder in the Documents folder of your iCloud. You’ll need to instead point Roon to the local folder that contains the Backup, and also point iCloud to the same folder.
Roon ----> Local Backup location <------ iCloud automatic syncing.
If you want to restore a Backup that is already in iCloud, download it to a local folder on the Mac or a network share that isn’t iCloud.
Sorry if I confused you. I am no longer interested in a backup to iCloud Drive. I just want to create a Folder on my Mac. All I am seeing now when I try to do this is “Dropbox” in the picture above. My Mac local backup location is not shown and there doesn’t seem to be anywhere in this roon screen above to Creat a Folder. All it says is Add a Network Share.I don’t know why my Mac is not an option like Dropbox on the roon screen above.
I did backup to Dropbox as shown in this picture. I tried clicking on the New Folder button but that only creates a new Folder in Dropbox. How do I creat a new Folder on my Mac??
When you’re looking at the available Backup locations, you are seeing what the Nucleus (your Core) has available, not the Remote (your Mac). The Nucleus will only see local storage that is either 1) plugged into the Nucleus via USB or 2) available to the Nucleus via network share.
What you’re hoping to accomplish would be possible if your Core was located on your Apple computer instead. But your server is on the Nucleus - it can’t see the internal storage drive on the Remote, because the Mac isn’t broadcasting local storage to the network.
