Cannot play Roon + Qobuz on wall-mounted speakers with Mark Levinson amplifier (ref#U7YGYA)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· None of the above quite fits

· Roon server is Mac mini M2 pro with Mac OS 26.2. We have a new Sonos soundbar and we can play Roon + Qobuz on this. But we can’t play Roon + Qobuz on our wall-mounted speakers which are controlled by our Mark Levinson amplifier 5805. We are able to play Sonos + Qobuz on the wall-mounted speakers. How can we use Roon with the wall-mounted speakers?

· We have WiFi and our Sonos system is using WiFi.

This device is not Roon Ready and these are the inputs according to the specs on the Mark Levinson page, so you will have to use one of those:

Meaning that you either:

  • connect it by USB (or S/PDIF) to your Roon server
  • acquire some kind of Roon Ready streamer or a Roon Bridge such as a Raspberry Pi to receive the stream from Roon and feed it into the amp either by USB, S/PDIF, or (if the streamer has a DAC) one of the analog inputs.
  • use Bluetooth from the Roon Server

Can anyone suggest other Roon Ready streamers that would work well with the Mark Levinson amplifier?

Hello @danbarco,

Thanks for sharing your question here.

You are definitely heading in the right direction. You simply need a device to act as a “bridge”—receiving the Roon Ready signal over the network and passing it to your Mark Levinson DAC via USB.

Popular Solutions:

  1. Raspberry Pi (Ropieee):

Many users choose a Raspberry Pi running RoPieee. This is a cost-effective, low-maintenance way to create a Roon endpoint.

  2. General Computer/Linux:

You are not limited to a Raspberry Pi. You can use almost any computer (running Linux, Windows, or macOS) by installing Roon Bridge. You would then connect this computer directly to your DAC via USB.

Thanks.

Hi @danbarco,

Here’s a little more context on the difference between Roon’s components:
