Description of Issue

i did install the CORE OS on my SYNOLOGY NAS. No Problems there. I did install the Remote on a Notebook with Wifi, a Android Device with WIFI, an IPAD with WIFI and Desktop PC with Ethernet.
All with the new Version 1.8

All Devices can connect to the CORE and i can play from my library and also i did connect QUBOZ, all working great. i also can open the “Display Mode” with 192.168.178.161:9100,

But i cant connect to the core os with the configure button. on all devices its just searching. nothing to be found.

any ideas what it can be? I did disable the firewall on my computer but still no change.

i would love to connect my SONOS Speakers

thanks in advance
roland

That configure button is for ROCKs only. You should be able to see and config your Sonos from the Audio register

Well, and for the Nucleus and Nucleus+ systems - they also use Roon OS…
But your point is well made - if there isn’t a Core running on a Roon OS in the home network, that “Configure the Roon OS” button should be ignored as not being relevant for Cores running on other operating systems e.g. Windows/Mac OS/Linux.

To add your Sonos speakers you need to use the Roon remote app and look under audio in settings and you should see the Sonos speakers there. Enable them and you can use the zone picker in the app to playmusic to each one.

Many thanks for the fast replies. Sadly, there are no Sonos speakers in the audio section. Only the device i start the App i See. I have Sonos gen2 and 2x play5 and 1x Play1, all With the newest Firmware.

When my wife Starts the App, i See her phone in my App as a device i Could use to stream.

Check you NAS firewall is not blocking Comms between them ensure its let’s RAATserver and Roon through . Also check that they are not on a different subnet to the Nas? Roon won’t find them if they are on a different subnet to the core.

Tagging @support also lend a hand.

all devices are in the same network with adresses. under windows i can see them all. subnet all the same.
i did deactivate the firewall on my nas, nothing changed.

I am not sure, if i have to change something in my router?

vSwitch (from VMM) enabled on the Synology?

Yes, I use a VM on the NAS, so it’s running

So are you running Roon as part of the RoonServer app (by crieke) or did you install it as linux VM in the VMM?

It’s an app direct on the NAS. Not an extra VM. My VM is not in any relation to the roon

Hey @Roland_Guttek,

Welcome to the Roon community

Thanks for all the effort you put in to get started with Roon and for reaching out when you got stuck. I’ve moved your thread into our technical team’s queue so they can help with connecting your Sonos devices in Roon.

In the meantime, many thanks to everyone who helped

Got multiple physical network sockets on the Synology? If so try to use an interface not assigned to the vSwitch with the Roon app.

Hi @Roland_Guttek

We’ve seen Open vSwitch enabled on NAS devices prevent Sonos (and Chromecast) devices from being able to communicate with the Core in the past. Can you try disabling this and let us know if it helps?

Hello, i did not investigate this further. i got a NUC instead. works fine.

thanks
